“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
2 Tim. 2:15 (NASB)
Who do you work for? Stop to think about that for a moment. Regardless of who signs your paycheck, if you are a believer in Christ then you are a worker for Christ. Paul encourages Timothy, his “son” in the faith to be a diligent worker. Paul tells Timothy that the key to being a good worker for God is to rightly handle the word of truth. God has entrusted each believer with the gospel of Christ. These words are the very words of life. These words that can heal the hurting and bring hope to the brokenhearted and speak peace to the troubled. Do we handle the gospel well? Do we proclaim it boldly and unashamedly? Do we use it correctly? Do we use it at all? The “right” way to handle the truth of the gospel is to share it with everyone. If we do that then we will have presented ourselves as approved workers and we can exalt that the Name of our Lord has been magnified.
Questions for application…
When was the last time that I verbally shared the gospel?
In what ways can I be a more diligent worker for Christ?
