“Salvation belongs to the Lord;
Your blessing be upon Your people!”

Psalm 3:8(NASB)

What does it mean to be blessed by God? When we think of the word “blessed”, we often think of those things like wealth, prestige, favor or temporal success. Those who preach the false gospel of prosperity have hijacked the idea of God’s blessing for their own sinister purposes. They would have us believe that the blessings of God can be measured by the size of our bank accounts. The biblical idea of blessing is far greater than wealth or possessions. Although God does choose to bless some people financially, wealth is not promised to every believer. What is promised to every believer is the presence of God Himself. The greatest blessings that we could ever receive are to be able to boldly approach the throne of Grace through the shed blood of Christ, to have a personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe and to have God living inside of us in the Person of the Holy Spirit. The best thing that we could ever hope to receive from God is God Himself. Let us delight ourselves in His blessings.

Questions for application…

Does God promise wealth to all believers?

What are some of God’s blessings that all believers enjoy?

What is the best blessing that we can receive from God ?
