“But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter. ”

Christ alone was obedient to the law in all points (Rom 10:6). The rest of us fall painfully short of God’s standards (Rom 3:23). We are not able to keep the commandments of God for even a day. The good news is that those who believe on Christ are free from the law because his perfect obedience has been applied to our account. Therefore we can now serve God out of our freedom and not out of obligation.
