“For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

The gospel is good for everyone. There is no distinction between Jew and Gentile, rich and poor, old and young, men and women. The ultimate need of all people who have ever lived is to have their sins forgiven. The good news for all people then is that because God is rich in mercy, whoever will “call upon the name of the Lord” (meaning to repent of sin and trust in Christ) will be saved. Paul calls the gospel the “power” of God (Rom. 1:16). This is why we must obey the command of Christ to preach it to “all of creation” (Mk. 16:15). The gospel speaks life to the lost, hope to the broken, peace to the hurting and encouragement to the saved.
