“In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:6 (NASB)

The promise of Proverbs 3:6 is a conditional one; meaning that the fulfillment of the promise is dependent on our obedience. Our responsibility is to acknowledge God in all of our ways. The word acknowledge here means more than just having an awareness of God, even the lost know that God exists, rather it means to submit to Him in all of our ways. It means to surrender every area of our lives to His Lordship, holding nothing back. If we will do that then we will receive the benefit of the promise. God will “make our paths straight.” This does not mean that our paths will be easy, rather it means that God will give us clarity and wisdom to follow Him along the straight and narrow road that leads to life.

Questions for application…

What is a conditional promise?

Am I “acknowledging” His Lordship in every area of my life?

How does God “make our paths straight”?
