For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again,
But the wicked stumble in
time of calamity. ”

Proverbs 24:16 (NASB)

The idea that becoming a Christian guarantees a trouble-free life is absent from scripture. Jesus Himself even warns His disciples that they would have tribulation (Jn 16:33). The fact is that the Christian walk is one of struggles. We struggle against our flesh, we struggle against demonic forces, we struggle to go against the flow of a lost world. There will be times that we fall. The mark of authentic Christianity is not that we never fall but rather that every time we do fall, Christ raises us up again to continue walking with Him.

Questions for application…

What are some things that may cause a Christian to fall ?

How should we respond to other believers that are struggling ?
