“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.”

John 10:27-28 (NASB)

Perhaps the most well known passage in the Bible is the 23rd Psalm. It begins by declaring “The Lord is my Shepherd”. Countless millions of people have recited those words in times of distress, fear or mourning but how do we know that those words are true for us? How do we know that the Lord is OUR shepherd? Jesus gives us some tests to determine that here in John 10:27-28. He tells us that His sheep hear His voice. He tells us that His sheep follow Him. He then tells us that those who are His sheep have eternal life; safe and secure in the hands of the Good Shepherd.

Questions for application…

What does it mean to hear the Shepherd’s voice?

What are some marks of genuine faith in Christ?
