“Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Christ begins His earthly ministry by proclaiming the same message which He entrusts us to continue proclaiming today. When Christ proclaimed that the “The time is fulfilled”, He was revealing that the promise of a Messiah that had been given to the Old Testament believers had finally been fulfilled. When He proclaimed that the “Kingdom of God is at hand”, Christ the King was declaring that the Spiritual Kingdom of God had come to be established among those who would repent of their sins and believe on Christ. This is our message still: Jesus is the Savior of His people, His Kingdom is established, and to enter that Kingdom we must repent from our sins and trust in Him.
