“Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh the great city and proclaim to it the proclamation which I am going to tell you.” ”

God is faithful and patient with His people. When He sent Jonah to preach to the city of Nineveh, Jonah initially not only refused but ran in the other direction. Instead of giving up or sending another messenger God demonstrated His patience and love for Jonah (and the people of Nineveh) by allowing Him a second opportunity to obey His commands. God redirected Jonah’s path by way of a large fish and redirected Jonah’s affections by way of His grace and as a result over 120,000 people were saved from destruction.
