“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Genesis 1:1 (NASB)

The God of the Bible is the Sovereign, Eternal Creator of all things. (John 1:3) He is the first cause of the universe and He sustains His creation by the Word of His power (Hebrews 1:3). To have a Biblical worldview, Genesis 1:1 cannot be skirted or denied. The truth that the universe exists for God’s glory and good pleasure is non-negotiable for the Christian. Not only to all things begin with God but He is also the consummation of all things (Ephesians 1:10).

Questions for application…

Why is acceptance of Genesis 1:1 necessary for a biblical worldview?

What are some ways in which the world attacks this truth?

Why was the universe created?
