“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Luke 19:10 (NASB)

We tend to think of the gospel picture of Christ in terms of a collection of separate accounts; each a different stage or story. There is however an overriding narrative to Christ’s life. A big picture which ties everything in the gospels and in fact all of scripture together: That Christ is the lamb of God slain before the foundation of the world to glorify God by redeeming a people for His Name. Every event in the life of Christ: the incarnation, the virgin birth, the sinless life, the suffering, death, resurrection, ascension and return all are a parts of this big picture.

Questions for application…

Do I have a “big picture” perspective on the Bible, seeing it as one seamless story?

Is His purpose also my purpose?

What would an observer say is the over-riding theme of my life?
