“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.'”

Matt. 9:37-38 (NASB)

The issue with evangelism isn’t a lack of people who might respond to the gospel. The issue is a lack of people who are willing to share. Jesus tells His disciples that the Harvest is plentiful. It is true that not everyone will respond to the gospel when it is presented, but it’s also true that no one will respond if the gospel isn’t presented. The good news is that the burden of saving people isn’t on us. Christ has already done the “heavy lifting” and we only need to bring in the harvest that He has sown and cultivated by His Holy Spirit. We have the assurance of the Lord of the Harvest that our Great Commission work will bear fruit. Let us pray for laborers to take the message of Christ to a lost and dying world and let us join them in the fields.

Questions for application….

Who is the Lord of the Harvest?

How do we know that some people will respond to the Gospel?

How has God already prepared the Harvest?
