“Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?
They are high as the heavens, what can you do?
Deeper than Sheol, what can you know?
Its measure is longer than the earth And broader than the sea.”

Job 11:7-9 (NASB)

Our God is incomprehensible. That simply means that no man can understand Him. No one can intellectually grasp His ways, His thoughts, His plan, His beauty or His Holiness. Any attempt to describe God will always fall desperately short. We simply do not have the words or the capacity to explain all that He Is. Finite man will never be able to understand an infinite God. He is incomprehensible but He is also knowable. Through Christ we can know Him personally. We can worship Him, we can treasure and cherish Him. We can hear and obey His word. We can even abide in Him. The Puritan John Owen wrote “What the mind cannot comprehend the heart doth admire and adore, delighting in God, and giving glory unto him in all.” Worship Him for He is greater and higher and deeper than we can ever imagine.
