“ The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. ”

Genesis 3:21 (NASB)

Death entered the world by the fall of Adam. The first death of any creature is recorded in Genesis 3:21. God made garments of skin to clothe the nakedness of Adam and Eve. Thus we see the first covering for sin and a foreshadowing of both the Old testament offerings which were a temporary covering for sins and the death of Christ that would be the ultimate offering for the eternal forgiveness of sins. Just like the garments of Genesis, Christ was slain by the Father to become a covering for the sins of His people.

Questions for application…

What comparisons can we draw between the covering provided in Genesis 3:21 and the covering provided by the Father in Christ ?

Why did death enter the world ?
